flatsketchin - waiting on Spring...

I've been playing around with vector-ish speed sketching in PS. Made a weird composition scene of a knight, the design is one I made for a youth ministries logo/shirt design. Second pure randomness experimentation.

Dying for good weather to get back out in the woods to camp, essentially live of my shop, and get real work done on new commission swords.  But I'll focus on whats in front of me for now... ;)

Hale May | Circuit Rider - Bladesmithing for a Cause

~

Workin music...

~

At the moment I'm focusing on two swords and some commission illustration work. One particular sword for the cause of auctioning off for a good cause. Andy & I will be giving %100 of the proceeds of this sword to Samaritan's Purse an incredible disaster-aid organization & ministry. Obviously compelled to do this in light of Japan's earthquakes, New Zealand's prior earthquakes, and the anniversary of Haiti.

keep an eye out of the MDW website, twitter and FB page for details on the sword and when it will be auctioned off online...

Oakeshott XVIIIb - Bloodwood Ring Pommel Sword

I'm finishing up this sword for a customer in the coming week.
By far one of the most enjoyable commission projects I've ever worked on to date. Really love the design as specified by the customer, and really love the theme and aesthetic behind it, which will soon be clear once sword & scabbard are finished.
When finished it will have hand engraved french words in the blade, and will have medieval knotwork carved into the grip & scabbard.

Reminiscing - Norse Typography

You know when you find old artwork you did ages ago, and its like a bizarre time machine that freaks you out? Yeah...

This is what happened to me when stumbling across this. A higshschool senior year art project. Norse font lettering:

Sorry for the crappy picture quality. The original sketches were done on a huge posterboard so unable to scan, thus B&W photos.

But despite my random-ness at the time and carefree take on this subject matter, I really enjoy remembering where I was creativity years back.
